Hostile Environment Awareness Training

 

"Hostile Environment Awareness Training" (HEAT) is an intensive five days course aiming to train professionals to deal effectively with risks-associated and emergency / critical situations while deployed in hostile environments abroad.

The training is expected to align participants understanding of the minimum required behavioral field requirements when confronted as an individual or a team member staff of an international field  operation whatever his/her national or professional background could be.

The Course is designed to:

  • improve participants knowledge about multiple threats present in hostile field environments and to learn how to deal with them in an effective manner;
  • rehearse and practice safety and security procedures accordingly with the specific threat;
  • trigger individual skill dealing with different stressful situations;
  • trigger group dynamics dealing with multiple stressful situations.

Target group and minimum requisites: personnel already working or contracted/seconded to work in an international field operation. Participants are strongly advised to have a valid driving licence which must be brought to the training in order to drive a 4x4 vehicles for training purposes.

All participants admitted to attend the Course must register and finalise the online Course e-HEST available, free of charge, at: https://ehest.consilium.europa.eu/login/index.php.
Please bring to Pisa the Certificate confirming that you did pass  the course. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS A PREREQUISITE TO ALLOW YOU TO ATTEND THE COURSE IN PISA.

Participants are strongly recommended, as well, to register and complete the UN online Course  Basic Security in the Field (BSTIF II)  available, free of charge, at: https://dss.un.org/dssweb/Resources/BasicSecuritybrIntheFieldBSITFII.asp.
