Leadership & Gender: Principles and Particularities

Gender affects both the internal and external environment of peace missions/operations. Therefore, gender awareness is key to effective leadership. To promote effective leadership in international field operations, the course focuses on the subject of leadership in field operations with a strengthened gender perspective.

The primary objective of this course is to increase the knowledge and understanding of effective leadership. With gender as an integrated perspective, the course will look at different aspects of leadership in order to provide the participants with an opportunity to reflect critically on their own experiences and develop new leadership approaches. The context is conflict affected countries and multifunctional peace support missions/operations. The course is intended for people in mid- to senior level management positions.
